10 Reasons to Watch The New Beauty & The Beast TODAY (no spoilers)
Good Morning beautiful people! If you're here for the first time, WELCOME and if you're a returning visitor, I'm so glad to have you back! So I went to an early screening of the Live action film of Beauty and The Beast and let me tell you..the 10 year old Karita was in a state of PURE BLISS! So I decided to tell you why YOU TOO must go see it! Scroll down for a quick list!

1. Inclusive both Racially & Sexual Orientation:
Being a young black woman, I appreciated seeing some important secondary characters being acted as black or biracial. This allows children of today to feel more connected! Especially those characters that hinted at not necessarily being straight. This made more sense for today's audience and was just so awesome to see!
2. Newly added content fit JUST right:
While managing to stay true to the story I grew up on, the newly added content NEVER takes away from the story I know but rather enhances the story telling and understanding of Belle, her Father Maurice and their lives!
3. Telling of Previously Untold stories:
This ties in with number 2, but some of the stories told in the modern version really allows us a better look into Belles life and need for more as a curious young woman who wants to get out of her small town. We learn more about her this time around that just makes good sense!
4. Actors beautifully Cast to fit their roles:
I think we all can agree the choices of the actors was A HUGE part in selling this modern version. And let me just say EVERYONE picked was done, with deep thought and evaluation! We all know Emma Watson to play the "not so normal/average girl" so well via Hermoine in the Harry Potter series, and being an advocate of women being strong and independent she does Belle SO beautifully! I can't imagine anyone arguing otherwise! The rest, amazing, you'll see!
5. Visually stunning:
When I was a little girl I always felt like Beauty and The Beast was an eye full visually, from the dancing of the dishes, to the details of Beasts dance hall, all of it was magical. Today, the live action film easily took the visuals to another level. Colors! Sharp imagery, I spent half the movie just looking at everything I could see! Still so colorful and beautiful!
6. Humor balanced with dramatic moments:
We remember LaFou (Gatson's sidekick) to be weasily and forgettable, but the modern version really allowed him to bring more humor and balance to some intense scenes. I appreciated them casting Josh Gad as I think he really does a perfect job of adding that extra bit of humor and personality to an underdog of a character! I LOVED LaFou this time around lol

7. Characters developed well:
I always love a movie that allows/offers just enough to develop a character before jumping into to the story (I'm a lover of details) so I think the character development of each character was masterfully done!
8. Strong female lead masterfully done:
Emma really brings to strong, rebellious Belle we grew up with to life! She allows us not so cool girls to think we too can maintain who we are as individuals, never bending to the will of a male ego and can still find love and happiness! I LOVED Belle's strength in this film and with the new bits here and there it makes for that much more of a powerful Female Leading Role!
9. Adding small details from the Folktale:
If you're a story lover like my boyfriend and I, then you've heard/read/listened to the folktale version of Beauty and the beast! So seeing them add tiny bits from that originating story was a really cool, but small little additive to pick up on! For a details girl, this movie does A GREAT job of taking care of the important small details!
10. The Child In Us can Live AGAIN:
If you grew up with the original Disney film, you know it was not as popular as some of the others. But if you loved it as I did, being that not your normal kinda girl then it TRULY warms your heart to see that they picked THIS story to tell again so the young girls of today can too feel and be reminded that it's okay to be different. To read and not be into make up, to not want to chase boys but be independent. I got teary eyed at certain points JUST because this message NEVER gets lost in today's version. And The little Karita inside was overjoyed throughout this entire movie!

I can't wait to share the original version I grew up on with my kids one day as well as sit back and enjoy the modern take on it! I ABSOLUTELY loved this film and hope YOU ALL will too! Go do the kid inside of you a favor. A timeless classic!
