Top 8 Make Up Items + What I hope to get next!
Today I'm sharing with you my current make-up favorites! Since opening up about my make-up journey, read about it HERE, I've been playing around more with my beauty buys and after a good 3-4 months, I've decided to share Top 8 beauty products with you!
As I shared with all of you in my previous blog post about learning how to do make-up and being happy with not being perfect, I've been using my beauty buys since then and I wanted to share with you all what I'm loving today, why I like it and what I hope to get in the near future! So let's get into it shall we!
1. Essence LONG lasting Eye Pencil:
For a simple eye-liner, not only was this RIDICULOUSLY affordable, but it's smooth, goes on easy and doesn't smudge easily! I'm a bit of a clumsy one when it comes to putting on my eye liner, so I love that this take the guess work completely out of it. PLUS, IT'S SUPER AFFORDABLE!
2. NYX Micro Brow Pencil
As a COMPLETE newbie to the eyebrow thing, this item made it way easier than the conventional pencil (I'm moving away from them altogether). The miro/sharp pencil has allowed me to do minor to full brows and I like it! Also affordable at about $10!
3. NYX SOFT Matte Lip Cream
This one is a big of a new buy, but I'm kinda loving it! I'm hoping to get some more but this color and the way it applies, are both to DIE for (make-up die)! I just want a whole collection of them now! This one is a reasonable price too, $10 for one...a little high but for the quality, I'll take it!
4. Make Up Forever Artist Shadows-1
Now this was a gift....I JUST ADORE it!!! Definitely on the pricier side, but every now and then I think it's worth it to spend on the quality stuff! Running at $52.00 CAD I just love the color combo's for my skin tone!
5. Sephora - Matte Perfection Powder
This has been my absolute favorite buy! I'm a shiny (oily) girl as stated in My Journey Blog post, so THIS has been a dream! From the moment I apply it I can see a difference. Yeah I still have a little shine come through later on but I'm still not sure of all the things/products I can use so for now this is amazing! It cost $25.00 CAD but I'ts definitely worth it!
6. Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Primer
This has been another little tester from heaven! I got this in a make-up goodie bag and it has proven to be worth it! When it's finished I intend to but the larger size one! This product will also run you a little high at $44.00 CAD, but unless you need to use it EVERY day, it should last you a good little while! So worth the investment!
7. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
Well I was definitely excited when I got this! Now I don't know if it's because it took a while to get it or what but I find I have to beg the liner to come out. I'll likely try again one day and replace it but for now, it doesn't meet the hype for me!
8. Sephora - Gel Serum Concealor
This is a great concealer. I can't say much else about it as have yet to try any other brands, but this one is great so far! The one thing I love about Sephora Collection is it's usually always affordable! This guy will run you about $14.00 CAD and so it does its job!
There you have it! My TOP 8 Make- Up Items! Now let's roll onto what I want to learn to do and have NEXT!
1. Contour palette / Highlighting
I want to be able to get up, do a quick highlight/contour to give my face a more striking, shapely look! I love the idea of mild contouring and what it can take a face from and turn it into with a bit of shadow play and highlighting!
This simple one is from Smashbox and will run you about $54.00 CAD, but if it works I'm willing to try it! And after reading reviews it's perfect for beginners (like me) and a great place to start!
What's your favorite/ go to contour palette brand!?
2. setting Spray/Powder aKA Baking the Face
Again because I am an oily skin type *really oily lol* I've heard these help to minimize the feeling of your make up melting off your face hours later, so I think I need to invest in a Setting spray/Powder or blotting powder...whatever will work! Here are a two I've been told about!
A LOT of women rave over this product! So I'm all for trying it, Sephora sales reps go to it first when talking with me! This would range from $18 CAD to $39 CAD!
I was told that blotting powder is better than a translucent powder as it photographs better! I do NOT want to be that dark skin girl glowing under the eyes with ever selfie lol natural and chic is what I am for! So I will try this out as well! This would run you about $50.00 CAD
This probably falls under the "highlight" tab but I've always wanted a golden, shimmery look! I think it's such a lovely add to dark skin and I'm itching to try it! Especially once the warm weather rolls in again
I've heard Bobbi Brown is Brown Skin girl friendly so I'd naturally gravitate towards this lovely lil guy! Read some great reviews and can't wait to get my hands on one! The full size will run you about $54.00 CAD or fun size is $29.00 CAD!
4. lip Stains /Tint
I know once I make my career change certain things I never had to be bothered with will creep back up to annoy me, like lipstick wearing out as the day goes on, that gross line around the inside of your lips with NO lipstick where it should be *shudders in fear* I HATE not looking polished. So I think this is a natural graduate step I'll be taking lol
I've tried the Sephora brand and so far I love it but only as a lipstick, it does not have the lasting power I was hoping for. Now I don't know if that's because I put it on top of other lipstick, but I'll try it today with just lip liner and we'll see! It's affordable, but not the best yet.
What is your favorite lip stain / tint? Suggestions needed!
5. Eye- Brow Kit
As I've said in the past, my eye-brows need SO MUCH help, they're thinner than I'd like and barely growing in, so I'd eventually like to progress in the brow department, I want to know what I'm doing in that department!
Now I think I'd still need something like this to help me figure out the shape I want! I'm not gonna transform into a guru over night but I want to get better, so I can get that...you know *polished* look! This kit would run me about $49.00 CAD
Shopping Needed?? I THINK SO!
Phew, I'm done...and I actually loved doing this because I realized things as I was writing it that I didn't realize otherwise! I am excited to continue to learn more and apply more! One Day I might just do alright lol
Well I hope you enjoyed this post! Don't forget to tell me about YOUR picks for lip stains and contour palettes! What are some of your favorite make-up items? Tell me about them in the comments section!
